The Inspiration Behind Crafty & Calm

Crafty & Calm was inspired by my journey to becoming a certified children's yoga teacher, my experience working with young children in Montessori and forest school environments, and, most of all, becoming a mom.

Having a child of my own sparked a deep passion for early childhood development and strengthened my belief that the early years are a precious time to nurture confidence, creativity, and emotional well-being. Through both my professional experiences and my own journey as a parent, I've seen how meaningful it is to introduce mindfulness early in life through movement, creativity, and play.

I also fell in love with the Waldorf philosophy and its beautiful emphasis on imagination, storytelling, nature, and open-ended artistic expression—elements that continue to inspire every class I create.

Crafty & Calm brings together these influences in a way that feels joyful and approachable. Each class combines children's yoga, mindfulness, storytelling, process-based art, and play in a warm, supportive environment where children can simply be themselves.

Our approach is inspired by Montessori's respect for the child, the creativity and imagination of Waldorf education, the wonder of nature-based learning, and evidence-based practices that support healthy child development. Research shows that movement, creative expression, and mindfulness help children build focus, confidence, emotional awareness, self-regulation, and social-emotional skills.

My hope is that every child leaves feeling grounded, confident, connected, and proud of what they've created—and that every family leaves with meaningful memories made together.
